Forskningsenhed for børn, unge og neurodiversitet
Nogle neurodivergente børn og unge mistrives. Formålet med vores forskningsenhed er at blive klogere på hvorfor samt undersøge, hvordan disse børn og unge bedst støttes.
Børn er forskellige. Det gælder også neurodivergente børn. Nogle har indre og ydre ressourcer, som kan støtte dem på deres vej i livet – andre kæmper. I forskningsenheden arbejder vi derfor med at undersøge de mange faktorer, som kan spille ind på, hvordan et barns udviklingssti forløber. Vi undersøger de udfordringer, som kan optræde sammen med ADHD (f.eks. relateret til eksekutive funktioner, sprog, søvn og adfærd), og hvordan disse udfordringer kan spille ind på dagligdagsfunktionen. Vi prøver også at udfordre traditionelle neuropsykologiske og medicinske modeller af psykopatologi samt tilknyttede udredningsmetoder. Endelig undersøger vi, hvordan neurodivergente børn samt deres familier og omgivelser bedst støttes. Vi anerkender diversitet i alle dens former og forsøger at fostre et inklusivt forskningsmiljø, hvor alle uanset baggrund, perspektiver eller erfaring bliver hørt. Vi samarbejder bl.a. med flere børne- og ungdomspsykiatriske hospitaler samt en række anerkendte internationale forskere.
