On the 1st of December, the Centre for Integrative Business Psychology organized a theme day on “Nudging and behavioral change”. Despite the heavy weather conditions that day, 40 researchers and practitioners from the public and private sectors participated on-site, while 50 people followed the event online.

The program of the day included different talks that discussed research on nudges with the aim to induce behavior change. Keynote speakers were Lars Tummers (Utrecht University) who presented recent developments in the field, and Lorenz Goette (National University of Singapore, University of Bonn) who gave insights into a large-scale field experiment nudging families to shorten their showers.

Other inspiring talks were given by Tina Venema (Aarhus University) on nudging customers to select vegetarian sandwiches over meat sandwiches, and Maya Fey Hallett (University of Southern Denmark) on the use of comparative feedback for general practitioners regarding opioid prescriptions. Alexander Koch (Aarhus University) showed how prompts could help to make fewer errors in a complex kitchen hygiene task, and Mette Trier Damgaard (Aarhus University) presented evidence from a field study in South Africa aiming at changing pregnant women’s iron supplement intake.

A big thank you goes out to all our wonderful speakers and all those who participated in the event. It was a great experience full of sharing ideas and interests.
