Abstract
Most people love animals and love eating animals. How are people able sustain this, psychologically? In this presentation I will examine the ways in which people sustain their meat-eating behavior. Specifically, I will discuss research ranging from society-wide justification processes right down to the ways individuals react to attempts to change the ways they think about the animals they eat. Across a range of studies we will see that barriers to behavior change are strong and new directions must be explored to overcome them.
