Clinical psychology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of psychological and psychosomatic disorders.
Clinical psychology deals with the description, examination, diagnosis, exploration, prevention and treatment of psychological and psychosomatic disorders in children, adolescents, adults and families. Clinical psychological treatment can be short term or long term, typically in the form of conversations, supplemented by various forms of skills training, psychoeducation and medical treatment. The goal of treatment may be to relieve symptoms, change dysfunctional behaviour, strengthen health-promoting behaviours, personality change, etc.
In clinical psychology research, we focus on the significance of biological, emotional, relational and social factors for the development, maintenance and healing of mental disorders. Using quantitative and qualitative methods, we conduct research into the key elements of mental disorders, develop methods to treat various types of mental disorders, and conduct empirical studies of the effects of these methods and their inherent active factors. Clinical psychology is an important bridge builder between basic psychological research and clinical practice.
