Social psychology and personality psychology are two distinct but closely related basic subjects integrated into a single subject at Aarhus University. 

People are socially hierarchical, and it is natural for them to organise in groups and larger communities. Each individual in these social organisations has a distinct personality. 

In psychology, the term personality refers to the entirety of the central and relatively stable characteristics and patterns of behaviour (traits, motives, needs, adaptations, emotional patterns and values) that characterise a person as an individual and distinguish them from others. 

Besides the core areas of the basic disciplines, social psychology and personality psychology also studies the interplay between these aspects and between the individual and sociality as such.
