Thesis collaboration for companies and organisations

A thesis collaboration is an opportunity for your organisation to shed light on specific issues and gain valuable insights based on the latest research within psychology.

Our students address a wide range of topics and methodological approaches, and through collaboration you can provide expertise and new perspectives. This is also an opportunity to strengthen your ties with future talents. For example, a thesis student can examine how your users experience your treatment options, systematise and analyse data that has already been collected, or give you an overview of the latest research within a field in a systematic review. If you have an idea for a thesis collaboration, you are very welcome to send your suggestion to us. We will then post it, so that interested thesis students can apply to work with you.

The thesis student will be offered supervision by one of our research staff throughout the process. Both the student and the supervisor have a duty of confidentiality. The researcher will assess the thesis. Your task will be to describe an assignment and supply the information needed to write the thesis. You will be able to access the thesis once it has been assessed. Whether the thesis is to be published or used by you will be agreed with the student and must be included in the contract drawn up prior to commencement of the collaboration.

Example of previous thesis collaborations:

One example of a successful collaboration is the project in which a group of thesis students developed a new training method to improve older people’s balance. This method was implemented at the falls prevention centre and has been shown to significantly reduce the number of falls. Director of Studies Mimi says: "Many of our thesis students are working on projects directly helping companies and organisations like the falls prevention centre. Their efforts lead to concrete improvements and create value for both companies and students."

Photos and videos from the falls prevention centre show the older people taking part in the new training sessions, while thesis students guide them through the exercises. These visual materials underline the close collaboration and the positive results achieved.

The collaboration between the falls prevention centre and thesis students is an excellent example of how academic knowledge can be put into practice and create significant benefits for society. This partnership also shows how companies can benefit from collaborating with universities and help educate the experts of tomorrow.
