During the current COVID-19 pandemic, science needs to move fast and it can seem like the traditional way we do science cannot keep up with the rapid pace at which the crisis is spreading. After working on a research idea, it usually takes years to publish the results. Now, however, things need to move faster. One more reason to embrace open scientific practices. In this talk, I discuss the role of open and transparent research practices in the COVID-19 pandemic, and beyond.
