Abstract
Academics from various fields have shown a growing interest in the effects of resource scarcity and proliferating empirical evidence has been provided about its antecedents and consequences. This presentation will offer an overview of various conceptual models that help explain the breadth of findings found in the resource scarcity literature, as well as identify open areas of inquiry. Specifically, models related to how consumers respond to resource scarcity, how intensity and duration shape experiences of resource scarcity, and how related states of resource discrepancies produce convergent (vs. divergent) findings will be offered. Avenues for future research derived from these models will also be discussed.
