Abstract:
The Trust in Science and Science-Related Populism (TISP) Many Labs study involves a pre-registered online population survey with over 71,000 respondents in 67 countries on all inhabited continents. This large-scale project was made possible by the contribution of over 235 collaborators. The main goal of the study was to analyze the prevalence and correlates of trust in scientists and science-related populist attitudes across countries. In this talk, I will share my experiences as main lead of the TISP Many Labs study, provide guidance on how to set up and run such a large project, and present the findings of our study. I will conclude by providing critical reflections on the potential of collaborative global studies for public opinion research and the social sciences.
