Abstract:
What is boredom, why do we experience it, and what happens when we do? Much like pain, boredom provides unpleasant but important feedback, telling us whether we want and are able to meaningfully engage in our own lives. By understanding what boredom is, we can better understand what boredom does, including when and why boredom sometimes results in harmful behavior.
