A ‘reproducibility crisis’ has been proclaimed, at least in some areas. We see sweeping claims that ‘science is broken’. The open science movement wants transparency, preregistration and adjustments to the so-called ‘scientific method’. But how bad is it? Are most published research findings false? Are questionable research practices widespread? Is the so-called ‘reproducibility crises’ not just a symptom of flawed knowledge production in many areas – a ‘producibility crisis’. The talk will present empirical work and meta-science reflections on the current crisis debates in science and point to root causes
