Our research unit investigates how psychological treatments within the cognitive therapies can be optimally designed and delivered for people with anxiety and depression, people affected by somatic illness, and people experiencing physical inactivity. We examine the effects of combining therapeutic techniques, how to optimize the benefits of individual therapy sessions, the potential of brief treatment interventions, the importance of treatment timing, and which therapeutic approaches are best suited to the individual.
As part of the BRIM unit, we run a clinic offering free psychological treatment. The therapists are either psychologists or psychology students in the final part of their Master’s degree. All therapists receive training and supervision from clinical psychologist and specialist in health psychology, Professor Mia Skytte O’Toole.
We are continuously recruiting participants. Currently, we offer treatment to people experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression, consisting of six sessions of cognitive therapy.
We offer psychological treatment where you will learn concrete techniques to manage worry and negative thoughts – for example thoughts related to illness, climate change, war, not being good enough, or feeling unable to cope with everyday challenges.
The treatment is free of charge. You only need access to the internet, be able to speak Danish, provide informed consent, and complete questionnaires. The process begins with a phone conversation to ensure that the treatment offer is suitable for you. You will then receive six online sessions with a therapist.
