Title: “The role of learning in placebo and nocebo effects: Possible pathways to clinical applications”.
Bio: Prof. Dr. Andrea W.W. Evers is professor of Health Psychology and chair of the Health-Medical- and-Neuropsychology-Unit at Leiden University, the Netherlands. In addition to her clinical experience as a registered clinical psychologist, she uniquely combines fundamental and applied science in her translational research, by focusing both on basic research on psychoneurobiology (e.g. placebo and stress mechanisms) and translational research on screening and innovative interventions for somatic conditions (e.g. e-health tools in chronic itch and pain).
John Kelley
Title: Exploring Placebo Effects: Potential Clinical Applications to the Opioid Epidemic.
Bio: John Kelley, PhD, is Distinguished Professor of Psychology at Endicott College, the Deputy Director of the Program in Placebo Studies and the Therapeutic Encounter at Harvard Medical School, and a licensed clinical psychologist. His research interests include investigating the placebo effect in medical and psychiatric disorders, and understanding how the patient- clinician relationship affects healthcare outcomes in medicine and psychiatry.
