The team behind PGDinterview

PGDinterview was developed by experienced grief researchers in close collaboration with clinicians and bereaved individuals. The interview was subsequently tested with 125 bereaved adults. The team behind PGDinterview.com and the training videos includes:


Maja O’Connor – Professor at Aarhus University and founder of PGDinterview

Maja is a licensed psychologist and specialist in gerontopsychology. She has conducted research and clinical work in grief for more than 20 years. PGDinterview was developed and validated at the Unit for Bereavement Research between 2021 and 2022 under Maja’s leadership.

Maja also teaches the PGDinterview training courses.

Nicolai Lund Ladegaard – PhD and Specialist Clinical Psychologist in Psychiatry

Nicolai Ladegaard is a specialist clinical psychologist in psychiatry and is employed at Aarhus University Hospital, where he works in a combined clinical and research position. He is also an adjunct associate professor at the Department of Psychology, Aarhus University. He has worked in psychiatry for 20 years, primarily with assessment and treatment of affective disorders.

Nicolai also teaches the PGDinterview training courses.

Christina Buur Steffensen – Psychologist and Research Assistant

Christina is a psychologist and served as the project’s daily coordinator. She was responsible for conducting the majority of the diagnostic interviews.
