Around 15.000 Danes survives brain injury every year. A great part of these experiences memory impairment and difficulty organizing and planning everyday life. These impairments have major impact on their ability to live by them self and keep work employment, thus influencing quality of life and socioeconomic conditions.
This project investigates whether so-called smartphones kan be use in rehabilitation of memory impairment following acquired brain injury. Smartphones have in recent years undergone major improvements in usability which makes off-the-shelves technology an obvious opportunity in neuropsychological rehabilitation in contrast to expensive specially tailored technology.
The objective of this project is to investigate whether electronic calendars (smartphones) are effective in rehabilitation of memory impairment after acquired brain injury and what sort of individual characteristics that discriminate between those who profit from this type of rehabilitation and those who do not. The design is an ABA randomized cross-over control study with pre- and post assessment and follow-up after one year.
