Transport - how to get there

Getting to Denmark is easy. Denmark is a peninsula in Northern Europe, which means you can go by car or train from any of the North European countries. Aarhus is close to the E45 motorway.

There are flights from several destinations throughout the world to local airports in Denmark. If you arrive in Copenhagen Airport you may continue via plane to either Tirstrup (Aarhus Airport) or to Billund Airport and from there continue by bus to Aarhus. Instead of continuing by plane from Copenhagen, it is also possible to go by train directly to the centre of Aarhus.

By plane

Aarhus Airport located 40 km north of Aarhus, offers direct international flight connections to Oslo, Stockholm, Gothenburg, London/Stansted.

Billund Airport located 100 km south of Aarhus, has international flight connections to Amsterdam, Alicante, Brussels, Paris, Frankfurt, London/Gatwick, Manchester, Riga, Oslo, Stockholm, Gothenburg, The Faroe Islands, Nice, Palanga, Kaunas, Edinburgh, Stavanger, Bergen, Munich, Düsseldorf, Chania, Kristiansand, Lanzarote, Malaga, Mallorca, Tenerife, Milano, Nice, Perugia and Malaga.

Copenhagen Airport - with 65 airlines operating from Copenhagen Airport, and with more than 20 mil passengers every year, Copenhagen Airport is Scandinavia’s biggest.

Airport shuttle busses
There is a bus service to Aarhus from both airports. The travel time from Aarhus Airport to the city of Aarhus is approx. 45 minutes and from Billund Airport to Aarhus approx. 1.5 hours. Tickets are sold on the bus.

By train

The train from Copenhagen to Aarhus operate on an hourly basis. Travelling time is approximately 3 hours. There is a direct train connection from Copenhagen Airport to Aarhus.

By ferry

There is hydrofoil connection between Aarhus and Kalundborg, Aarhus and Sjællands Odde and from Norway and Sweden to Frederikshavn and Grenaa.

Roads

As in all parts of Denmark, Aarhus has an efficient road network which allows for easy driving access directly to the city – Hamburg is only a 3-hour drive. It is possible to park at the venue.
