On 11-12 June 2012, the basic research centre CON AMORE at Aarhus University, Business and Social Sciences will provide the setting for a major international conference that is to present clinical perspectives on autobiographical memory. Autobiographical memory is the ability to recall events from the personal past and imagine possible events in the personal future.

Some of the world's leading researchers in autobiographical memory and psychopathology, including Professor Dorthe Berntsen from Aarhus University, will be participating in the conference:

  • Richard J. McNally, Harvard University
  • J. Mark G. Williams, University of Oxford
  • Richard A. Bryant, University of New South Wales
  • Anke Ehlers, University of Oxford
  • Dirk Hermans, University of Leuven
  • Emily A. Holmes, University of Oxford
  • Michelle L. Moulds, University of New South Wales
  • David C. Rubin, Duke University
  • Edward R. Watkins, University of Exeter

Forum for knowledge exchange
The purpose of this year's conference is to promote knowledge exchange within research into clinical perspectives on autobiographical memory.

In recent years, the field has gained more interest as the research has provided new insights into mental disorders, including depression and post-traumatic stress. Hopefully, the conference will further contribute to this understanding.

Programme:
At the conference, the ten researchers will each give a presentation on their research in one of the four areas: Overgeneral autobiographical memories, invading and involuntary autobiographical memories, trauma and autobiographical memory, and therapeutic aspects of autobiographical memory.

Besides the ten presentations, the conference will also include a number of presentations on recent research in the field.

The conference will take place in the Aula, Vandrehallen and Stakladen at Aarhus University.
